It has long been said that the Miss Tourism Pageants is the pageant of opportunity. This is partly from teaching, not just contestants but parents as well, how to maximize their reign. We give this information for free to our contestants, for their benefit.
Over the years, its become easy to tell who is committed to their reign. Those are the Royalty who do the most. We see this in challenges, sharing of the journey and sheer excitement some portray through-out the year.
Then there are those who do the least possible, yet want the most.
Notoriety and public interest are two of the many factors when looking up what causes fame. Gone are the days when your outer beauty could do the work for you. Now people ask, why should I invest my time and energy watching your journey. In order for people to follow what you do and become loyal raving fans about you and your reign " IT MUST HAVE PURPOSE" "IT MUST HAVE VALUE" "IT MUST BE CONSISTENT". AND establishing a genuine and meaningful relationship or rapport with the individuals or group you are addressing. It involves creating a sense of resonance, understanding, and mutual respect that allows you to effectively convey your message and engage with them on a personal level. But not just in your circle. Your reach should fan out to a wider
audience of people who can get behind your personal platform. Whether to educate or entertain or both, in other words, why should someone follow you and invest in your journey??
I get asked all the time, how can I help my daughter become famous. Here are a few ways and I am screaming it from the rooftops!!!

Be consistent to your brand. Authentic Personality. No Lies. People often seek those they can relate to and lets just be honest here, not a lot of people get the pageant world. It just doesn't make sense to people who are not IN IT. For most, the only pageant experience they know is when Miss USA and Miss America were televised on local channels. So most outsiders don't relate to the title itself. But what people do relate to is a message. What do you as a person stand for. What, if you were not a reigning royal would your message be? Would it be the same?
Make your reign of value! Educate, Entertain, solve a problem or empower others. Find your own personal why. What makes you excited what makes you angry and want to solve for others, what do you know that you could teach others? Or how can you empower a single group of people. Not only will this
cause you to be more likeable and relatable but it gives you purpose. Resonating with a personal why will also help you grow your audience of social viewers. I talk about this a lot in "Better Days With Teri" if you want to grow and audience you have to find you in the noise then and only then will your people find you. The people who relate. Not just Harvey Ledbetter from Scranton scoping your page. Real people who will engage, and help motivate you to keep doing what it is you do.
Engage with the public. On social... first comment on the Miss Tourism Group or Miss Tourism Ambassador Group. Encourage others when they post and for goodness sake... use words. It takes a second to say great Job, Well Done, So proud of you. Always Always Always, Reply to messages as fast as possible. By not replying some people will feel like you don't really care and then they will begin to fall off. But for a Royal this next piece is the ADVISE of the CENTURY...
When at an appearance, event or taking photos in public in crown and sash be in the event!! Be a part of it, excited and enthusiastically involved in the event. Not in your phone or i-pad tablet, not with your personal friends and not hanging all over a boyfriend. Be there... at the event and represent your title, the pageant you hold the title for and whatever message you have in a personal platform. Shake hands with the crowd, do selfies with the crowd, this is where the secret is. Its in showing the world you are a sweetheart, you are smart, and their daughters, granddaughters, sisters should strive to be inspired to be like you. Yes be in the event.
I often think of the show the Masked Singer, probably one of the best for teaching inspired resonation. Everyone in the cast from judges to host to guests are excited and so much in it. And that excitement and enthusiasm is contagious and you, yes YOU! can create that same inspired excitement by being in an event and not just at it. Be an inspiration and not a decoration.
Pageants and Pageant contestants are responsible for advocating for volunteerism more than any other group of people in the world. Pageant
contestants log more volunteer hours in the age groups between 5-20 than almost any age group in the country next to girl scouts. All of that goes hand in hand with being inclusive. Include people from the crowd. Be their hope, be their light. Sign an autograph take a selfie. Be sure anything you do has the pageant web address if you inspired them to be like you they need a way to learn how they can, RIGHT?
Being a Queen is a lot of work. But the rewards and learning experience could be better than anything you will receive in almost any other type of program. You are encouraged, supported, you are given guidance, education and training.
Commit to your reign and you will see a miraculous thing happen. Although, maybe not 'Shocking" but get to know the pageant your success depends on you. Its not just getting a crown and going to nationals it is so much more...
Facts: Pageant Contestants become leaders and not followers. Through-out their reigns they learn to be more confident and will with each thing they do. They will become more self sufficient and more ambitious in their goals. Pageant contestants unlike any other thing a girl can do is one of the most empowering things a girl can do for her future.
