Interview Competition
The Interview Competition is a required competition and is designed to develop strong communication skills, confidence, and self-awareness in a professional yet supportive environment. Each contestant participates in a closed-room, one-on-one interview with members of the judging committee, with age-appropriate questions tailored to her division.
The Interview Competition helps contestants build confidence, communication skills, and professionalism through a positive, age-appropriate one-on-one interview experience. This competition prepares contestants with real-world skills they will use in school, work, leadership roles, and future opportunities. It teaches them how to be comfortable in unfamiliar waters.
What will the judges look for?
Communication Skills
Contestant speaks clearly, listens well, and answers questions with confidence and understanding.
Contestant remains poised, respectful, and comfortable during the
interview, even when answering challenging questions. was she able to express her answers clearly.
Personality & Authenticity
Contestant allows her true personality to come through and gives answers that
feel genuine, thoughtful, and age-appropriate. Is the contestant Kind, genuine, likable and easy to be around.
Appearance & Press Readiness
Contestant shows the ability to represent Miss Tourism with confidence in public settings, appearances, interviews, photos, and media opportunities. Judges may consider professionalism, communication, presentation, attitude, and how well the contestant understands the responsibility of being seen as a titleholder.
Princess and Pre-Teen General Idea of their role
Less professional interview and more conversational. Judges will be looking for signs
that these little queens have a basic understanding of their role.
Jr. Teen and Up Knowledge of Miss Tourism
Contestant shows an understanding of the Miss Tourism mission, her titleholder role,
and how she can represent the Miss Tourism Organization, her peers,
sponsors and her community with purpose.
Overall Impression
Contestant is age appropriate, fit, style and overall appearance leaves the judges with a positive, memorable impression and shows the qualities of a strong Miss Tourism representative.
